"A peek in the funny, colorful and wacky life of a call center ..."
Working
in a call center for almost 4 years is like being chained down,
nakakasira sa barkada at biyahe, lower chance of going out of town, when
at work-you're in front of the pc... at home, still the same thing.
Some of your neighbors who rarely see you go out of your compound will
even think you are a new person in the hood or something. Days off is
not enough to accomplish things and spend time with your family. Madugo
mag request ng vacation leave and if you are lucky, you will get sick
and can file sick leave easier.
Have you ever had a dream
(more of a nightmare) you were taking calls, like it was a typical day
at work in a call center then you wake-up, you’re at home and you
suddenly realize you have a upcoming shift in a few hours. Well, I had
that nightmare for several times when I was still taking calls.
Most
of the call center agents are not getting enough of sleep. That’s why
most of the time agents are irritable and lacks energy. Sometimes - when
pressure is so high – call center people tend to do stupid things just
to go with the flow… like releasing a call, listening to a conversation
on the phone when you've already transferred the call or just doing some
things on the phone just to avoid answering calls.
But once you begin working in this industry, it is so hard to quit because of money, reality bites all for the need of money.
One
thing I’ve learned from those is that you need to know your priorities.
I know that though we are earning a lot through this job – there are
still some things that we want to achieve and we don’t want to stay
working in a call center for the rest of your lives, but we must also
know the right strategy on how to achieve our personal goal.
Before
deciding to enter BPO, Call center for me is a place full of FUN! Just
FUN! But as years had passed, I’ve realized that it is not just about
TEAM BUILDING, PIZZA PARTY, INUMAN SESSIONS, GIMIKS, STARBUCKS TAMBAY,
and all those VICES.
It is more of… Queue, AHT, Schedule
Adherence, Abandoned Calls, Dropped Calls, Score Cards, QA Scores, Top
Agent, Top Team, EOP, and all those warnings.
And the saddest part of all...
Life
in a call center kinda wears u out the longer u stay...Goodbyes are as
rampant as hellos :). I have bid farewell to plenty of friends from work
too...its hard but it's inevitable... one day you'll have to say your
farewell piece too. :)..
But remember there are no GOODBYES... but there's "SEE YOU WHEN I SEE YOU"
